Carlos Cary, Ph.D

Senior Project Analyst

Dr. Carlos Cary is a Senior Project Analyst for QES. He holds a Ph.D. in civil engineering from the Arizona State University with a focus in geotechnical engineering and a specialization in pavement design and analysis. Dr. Cary has 11 years of experience in pavement engineering with over eight years dedicated to investigations on airport pavement design and construction. Prior to joining QES, Dr. Cary served as a Principal Engineer at Horizon Engineering Consulting. In this role, he led the planning and implementation of airport pavement research projects for the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Technology R&D branch. Dr. Cary’s areas of expertise include highway/airport pavement design and analysis, geotechnical engineering for pavement structures, non-destructive evaluation of pavements, laboratory and field characterization of pavement construction materials, unsaturated soil mechanics, pavement instrumentation, full-scale accelerated testing, and environmental effects on the mechanical response of pavements. Dr. Cary is also the author of over 40 publications, including technical articles and reports.
