Provide pavement testing and analysis for 6.86 acres of the Port Newark Container Terminal (PNCT) in Port Newark, NJ.

QES' responsibilities for the Port Newark Container Terminal (PNCT) pavement testing and analysis project consist of field testing and sampling; data assembly and analysis; and development of a summary report. Field testing consists of deflection testing using a Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD); coring; and subgrade evaluation using a Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP). The deflection testing provides material property information, while the coring is important to validate the analysis of the materials and to determine actual variations in pavement thickness. The DCP sample testing supplements the FWD results and identifies variations in the level of subgrade support present. QES' analysis provides for the cost feasibility of running straddle carriers across the pavement.
